My heart dropped. I was calling out my dog’s name, ‘Otis!’. I got louder and louder, but I couldn’t see him. Gradually, in the distance, I heard other people calling out the same name.

I looked around the park and saw several dogs running around, confused. They didn’t know who to run to. I was bounded at by an unknown German shepherd and pawed at by an unfamiliar chihuahua.

They were all called Otis.

Eventually, I found my dog, but it got me thinking; ‘Why didn’t I come up with a more original name?’

Sure, it was short and simple. It wasn’t the same as any humans in the house. But that didn’t change the fact that it was a very common dog name.

If you’re like me, you might have already invested some money in personalized bowls, collars, and blankets for your friend. You might want to stick to the ‘O’ theme. Or maybe you just like the letter. Either way, you might appreciate these lists of the best dog names that start with ‘O’.

That’s why I’m giving you a nice mixture of names, from quirky to cool.
